Arthur Capper Senior Building Phase I, SE

Project Description

The Arthur Capper Senior Building Phase I was constructed as part of the Arthur Capper/Carrollsburg HOPE VI Revitalization located in Southeast, DC in the Navy Yard neighborhood. The four-story building had to be rebuilt after a recent fire and our office designed the Stormwater management facility and provided the Landscape Architecture Design for the courtyard for this 162-unit senior residential apartment building with 29 garage parking spaces.
Additional sustainable design features also include: street tree pits that function as rain gardens to filter street runoff; geothermal wells for heating and cooling the main pavilion; and heat recovery systems linking the waste heat of the skating rink to the pavilion.
